Summer's Coming To A Close In Big Sky

Have you noticed that glimpses of fall are in the air? Leaves are starting to change colors. Temperatures are dropping. The days are getting shorter. Locals are buzzing with excitement about winter as snow start to fall on the high peaks. It's official - the end of summer in Big Sky is near.

Before anyone gets emotional about summer coming to an end, there are still plenty of cool things to do in Big Sky, Montana. For many people, this time of year is the best time of year. Let's take a look at what's going on:

  • Big Sky Farmers Market - The Farmer's Market continues every Wednesday until September 26th. Head down to Fire Pit Park to mingle with friends, enjoy live music, pick up locally grown veggies, enjoy Big Sky ice cream, pet llamas, buy an antler slingshot, or purchase a handmade present for yourself (or someone else).

  • MountainFilm In Big Sky - Telluride MountainFilm On Tour is coming to Big Sky's Lone Peak Cinema on September 14th-15th. Buy your tickets today before it's sold out. This is the first time MountainFilm is coming to Big Sky and everyone's looking forward to this event.

  • Adventure Mountain at Big Sky Resort - Adventure Mountain is the place to be for kids - ziplines, ropes course, climbing walls, giant swings, mining sluices, lift rides, and more. Adventure Mountain closes on September 28th.

  • Big Sky Resort - If you're a downhill biker, zip liner, or hiker, take advantage of the lifts spinning at Big Sky Resort. The mountain is officially open until September 28th. It won't reopen until November 22nd when the resort opens for skiing and riding.
  • Yellowstone National Park - The park is still open for business, but many of the campgrounds and faciliites start to close in October. Take advantage of Public Lands Day and receive free entrance into the park. Check out the closing dates on NPS.gov to help plan your Yellowstone road trip accordingly.

Things To Do In September In Big Sky

After a few early season snowstorms, the weather is bound to warm back up too. Go and enjoy the great outdoors. Take advantage of tale end of summer of summer in Big Sky to bike, hike, fish, climb, trail run, BBQ, and do all of the things you enjoy before the off season sets in. Summer isn't over yet, but it might be coming to a close soon.
