Join us as we kick of our 2019 Music in the Mountains summer concert series with FUTUREBIRDS, and special guests Dammit Lauren and The Well. The concert will take place in the Big Sky Town Center Park, with the park opening at 6 pm and the music starting at 7.
This event is also the third annual Big Sky Soul Shine event, sponsored by The Hungry Moose Market and Deli. There will be a kids carnival, games, art activities and more. The event is a benefit fundraiser for ALS and a continued celebration of former Hungry Moose owner Mark Robin.
Hailing from the bohemian college town of Athens, Georgia, Futurebirds play laid-back country-rock with an atmospheric, psychedelic twist. The music is a patchwork amalgam of influences, including: twangy Southern rock (they've opened for the Drive-By Truckers), reverb-soaked psychedelia reminiscent of early My Morning Jacket or fellow Athens residents Phosphorescent, and soaring guitar solos à la Neil Young and Crazy Horse. The group began turning heads with the release of a self-titled EP, whose backwoods harmonies and pedal steel riffs helped earn them a contract with Autumn Tone Records. With the label’s help, Futurebirds booked time at Chase Park Transduction -- one of Athens’ most renowned studios and recorded Hampton’s Lullaby, released in August 2010. The group’s latest release is Hotel Parties.
Dammit Lauren & The Well is an original alt/psych rock band based in Big Sky, Montana. Focusing on original material, with a few carefully selected covers, the quartet blends their assorted backgrounds into a soulful alternative rock sound that combines pop hooks with rocking jams. As a supporting act, the group has shared the stage with bands including Grace Potter, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Sam Bush Band, and Kitchen Dwellers. Their debut album, Warning Signs, was released on March 22nd, 2019.
Park opens at 6, music starts at 7. There will be food and beverage vendors. Please NO DOGS or NO GLASS CONTAINERS in the park during concerts!
