​They don’t call Montana Big Sky Country for nothing!

Sling a hammock up between two trees, find a flat piece of dirt to pitch a tent or pull your camper up into a spot because you're sleeping out in Big Sky Country tonight. There are spots to suit all styles of camping here. Spend the day hiking, fishing, or mountain biking and then enjoy the evening by the campfire roasting hotdogs and s’mores.

Most of the designated camping sites open in mid-May ready for summer living and close in September or October as the snow begins to fall. Sites have vault toilets, running water, campfire rings, food storage, and some have electricity. In effort to keep the Gallatin River clean, there are no dump stations in Big Sky. The closest sites are in Bozeman or West Yellowstone.

For those campgrounds/sites that are not designated, please help preserve Montana’s beauty by packing trash in and out, always using fire pits and making sure your food storage is bear safe. If you’re planning on staying overnight in Yellowstone National Park, remember to get a PERMIT.
