Know Before You Go:
To ensure you have a fantastic and safe side-by-side experience, here are some key things to keep in mind before you head out:
Driver Requirements:
-
To operate a side-by-side vehicle, you typically need to be at least 16 years old and hold a valid driver's license.
-
One person in your group must be 21 years or older to rent a machine.
-
For younger passengers, a minimum height of 48 inches is often required for seatbelt safety.
What's included and what to bring:
-
Most rentals include essential safety equipment, such as helmets and goggles, as well as fuel for your adventure.
-
Some rentals also include basic insurance with a deductible.
-
Consider optional upgrades, like enhanced protection insurance with a reduced deductible or weather protection.
-
Plan for a day out in the mountains. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, appropriate clothing layers, and a small bag or cooler to store these items. Mud and dust are part of the experience, so be sure to wear shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.
Important Notes & Safety Guidelines:
-
Side-by-side rentals are typically available during the warmer months, often from mid-June to late September, weather permitting.
-
Full-day rentals may not always be available, so check with your outfitter.
-
Be aware of potential fees for machine damage or retrieval if the outfitter needs to assist you on the trail. You are responsible for any damaged parts.
-
Booking in advance is strongly recommended, especially during peak season, as rentals often sell out.
-
Plan to check in about 30 minutes before your scheduled rental time.
-
A convenient feature of some rentals is direct trail access from the parking lot, meaning no need for trailering.
-
Credit cards are generally required for booking, with charges often processed on the rental day (unless a cancellation policy applies). A small non-refundable deposit may be required to secure your reservation.
