Can I snowmobile in Big Sky?

Snowmobiling is not permitted in the meadow or mountain areas of Big Sky. However, there are many opportunities in the Gallatin Canyon area and beyond, including guided snowmobile tours into Yellowstone National Park.

Who can drive a snowmobile?

Driver's licenses are required to drive a snowmobile, doubling up with a licensed driver is an alternative option.

Do we need a guide?

A guide is not required for snowmobiling in the surrounding area of Big Sky. However, guides are required when snowmobiling in Yellowstone National Park. During the winter season, access to Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is only allowed via Snowcoach or snowmobile tours.

Do we need our own gear?

No, most outfitters offer full-body suits, boots, gloves and helmets for an additional cost.
