Dog Sledding  - Dog lovers all of ages will not want to miss this opportunity.  Feel the thrill and power of a dog-sled while taking in Big Sky's beautiful mountain views. 

 

Sleigh Rides -  A taste of the West, a horse-drawn sleigh ride is another fun, family favorite.  Choose from one of the many local outfitters. 

 

Snowmobile Tours - Get your thrills in Big Sky's backcountry.  Choose from guided to gps-guided tours.  

 

Snowshoeing - With snowshoes you can go just about anywhere.  Rentals are available at gear shops in town center or opt for a guided tour at Montage or Big Sky Resort. 

 

Winter Fly Fishing -  WIth fewer crowds and hungry fish, winter is an opportune time to go fly fishing.  Half day guided trips take advantage of the short winter days.

Skiing and Riding At Big Sky Resort -  The slopes at Big Sky Resort are the main event.  Leave the instruction to the pros and plan for lessons or grab a mountain guide for the day. 

 

Nordic Skiing -  Big Sky is home to over 85 kilometers of groomed Nordic ski trails that encompass open meadows and forests. If you're a beginner opt for lessons at Lone Mountain Ranch or at the Big Sky Nordic Center. 

 

Ice Skating - The Marty Pavelich Ice Rink is a local favorite.  Renting skates for the whole family is a breeze at East Slope Outdoors. 

 

Yellowstone National Park -  Down the road from Big Sky, is the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Winter is an incredible time to visit with few crowds. Hire a snowcoach or jump on a snowmobile tour to see its famous landsmarks.
