Big Sky is home to over 85 kilometers of groomed Nordic ski trails that encompass open meadows and forests. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced skier, you'll find a trail to fit your skill level and fitness.
Can I rent Nordic skiing gear?
Yes! Several local gear shops in the Big Sky meadow rent Nordic ski equipment. You can find them in our listings below.
Do I need a pass?
The groomed Nordic trails in Big Sky fall under two different organizations: private trails groomed by Lone Mountain Ranch and public trails groomed by the Big Sky Community Organization (BSCO). You do not need a pass to access BSCO trails. However, Lone Mountain Ranch trails do require a pass. You will see posted signs for these trails. Seasonal and day passes are available. Contact Lone Mountain Ranch or the Big Sky Nordic Center.
Can I take lessons?
Yes! Lone Mountain Ranch and the Big Sky Nordic Center offer lessons with experienced instructors.
Are the Nordic trails dog-friendly?
Not all Nordic trails are dog-friendly. Trails groomed by Lone Mountain Ranch do not allow dogs. However, BSCO trails do.
