A DIFFERENT KIND OF MOUNTAIN HIGH
Summer in Big Sky may be short, but it sure is sweet. With long days and big skies overhead, there’s no shortage of trails to explore or memories to make. Whether you’re chasing that adrenaline itch or coasting through forested paths and soaking in the scenery, Big Sky’s interconnected trail system is quickly becoming a favorite among locals and visitors alike, guaranteeing an epic experience.
Over the past decade, Big Sky has grown into a true mountain biking paradise, with something for every type of rider. From lift-accessed downhill runs at Big Sky Resort to scenic gravel routes through nearby National Forests, there’s a ride here for every pace and preference.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
Big Sky’s trails stay beautiful and rideable thanks to the care of the Big Sky Community Organization and Southwest Montana Mountain Bike Association, who know just how special this place is. Riders are encouraged to follow basic trail etiquette below and create a positive culture on the trail:
- Be prepared with the right gear.
- Leave no trace and take only pictures. Pack out all trash and food scraps.
- Ride bear aware. Make noise, ride with a group, and carry bear spray. Rentals are available in our visitor center.
- Know your limits and the limits of your group. Ride trails that fit your skill and physical abilities.
- Be kind. Say, 'hi' and share the trails with others. Everyone is welcome.
- Be respectful and a good trail user. Don't ride when it's muddy. Make space. Follow all signs. Be respectful of private land.
